Love it or loathe it, car insurance is compulsory and something that we have to take out if we want to drive a car or other vehicle – and with good reason. The most basic form of car insurance, third party, means that if we cause injury or damage to a third party then their damages are covered.
However, there are other levels of car insurance available, which we have the option of choosing. They are more expensive, but if your car is a decent one, you might want to take a look at them and get a quote as they could protect you better in the long run.
Third party, fire and theft also covers you if your car catches fire or if it is stolen – this is often little more expensive than the basic third party cover so is definitely worth considering.
Fully comprehensive also covers you for accidental damage to your car, so if you have a car worth over £5000, you should definitely go for this type of insurance.
If you have other types of vehicles then you should look at specialist insurance such as van insurance, motorbike insurance or caravan insurance.
Make sure that when buying a policy you give them all the necessary details as you could find your cover invalid if you leave anything out.
