While many people are happy to buy a DVD or book over the internet, they are not so sure about buying non-tangible and arguably more important things such as insurance or the best annuity rates.
They are nervous about putting their insurance requirements into the hands of a company which has their main presence on the internet, even if it is a respectable and well known company and they fear that there will be problems making claims in the case of any accident.
In fact you can get some cracking insurance deals on the internet and as long as you follow a few rules you will be safe from any fraudsters. Use the insurance comparison sites to check the prices, and then when you have found the insurer that you want to use, make some enquiries.
Many of these will be well known companies anyway, but if you have doubts, then ring their office and talk with them face-to-face to ask any questions. Make sure that they are registered companies and do not use any which do not have a phone number and registered address on their website.
Buying major things off the internet can be a very safe way and indeed most of the major insurance companies do have an online presence now, as long as you are careful.
