It is amazing that people expect to receive quite valuable advice for free. They would not expect to receive products for free from a shop and yet they are surprised when a company whose product is advice actually charges them. This can be the case in many situations from insurers not on comparison websites to financial advice to managed print services. People are quite happy to pay out thousands in a financial product, yet they baulk at paying a small percentage of this to receive good advice. Yet you have to remember that nothing is free and it is likely that 'expert' advice given freely might not be so expert at all. If they are not confident enough to charge for their services then maybe the service is not so valuable after all! I am also a little suspicious when I am offered free things as invariably there is a catch. (more...) The Irish have been complaining about their auto insurance for decades. But there was no conspiracy, high rates were often justified. Not only did Irish motorists get in more accidents, on average, than other Europeans, but they also reported more road damage. Of course the reason for this was that Irish roads and highways were poorly maintained.
While rates have declined a bit in recent years, Ireland is still home to some of the highest auto insurance premiums in Europe. In this article we will review a few simple steps Irish drivers can take to qualify for lower monthly fees. First and most importantly, pass the driving test before you even apply for an insurance policy. Insurance rates are far more affordable for licensed drivers than for motorists who hold a provisional licence. Those who drive uninsured should also choose smaller cars. Since premiums are based on the size and power of the vehicle, driving a compact car can save drivers hundreds of pounds on premiums each year. (more...) Many pet owners choose to insure their loved one, a concept which non pet owners may find strange. In fact it makes perfect sense as pets are likely to need health services as much as their owners and it can work out very costly without a pet NHS. It is easy and relatively cheap to buy pet insurance Ireland or England and there are many different levels of cover to choose from. A few pounds a month can prevent having to cough up several hundreds of pounds in case of an accident or health problem. It really depends on the type of pet that you have as to which level of cover you choose. The most basic levels are very affordable and mean that you are covered if your pet has an accident. (more...) Is it just me, or do you also find it difficult to compare insurance policies? No matter what type of insurance comparison I am trying to do, I find it difficult to match what types of cover are offered by which different companies – and which ones are relevant to me. The insurance comparison websites do make it easier, I agree, but there is still a long way to go before I am comfortable with my final decision. I am always terrified of finding myself underinsured in the future, so I often go with more expensive premiums even if I probably don't need that level of cover.
There is so much to get my head around – what excess is stipulated in the policy and how much excess do I really need? What values are covered in the policy and what are the values I really need? Each of the different policies are laid out in often complicated print and it is so difficult to compare like for like. (more...) The beauty of many types of freelance work, such as writing, is that you can work from home and wherever in the world you are. As long as you have access to a computer you can work and this suits many types of people such as mums, those who live in remote areas or people who have second homes. Another benefit is that your client base can also be anywhere in the world – you could be working for East Texas Insurance Companies one day, and Australian travel agencies the next. There are few country limits on where you can or cannot work which is extremely liberating. All in all it is a very flexible lifestyle and you can work as few or as many hours as you want to or work at different times of the day – as long as you meet the deadlines. (more...) If you take a look at what is available, you can be insured for many things that you would not even expect. Apart from the insurances that we take out on a regular basis such as car, home, travel and life insurance, there are many other things that we can insure against. Private health insurance and insurance for dental care is one. Although we can get treatment on the NHS for our health and our teeth, there are often long waiting lists. The quality of care from the NHS can also differ from hospital to hospital, so many people choose to take our private insurance in case they fall sick. This private insurance provides excellent cover but does not come cheap and you can expect to pay a few thousand per year for a family – but many people feel that it is worth it. Although expensive, it can be invaluable if one member of the family falls seriously ill or needs ongoing treatment. (more...) What happens when you type a search term in your search engine? When you type a search term, search engines use different methods to browse through the enormous amounts of web data to come up with the right listings. But how are the listings rated? When we search for a term, say car insurance Cambridge, the search engine displays page after page of links in a descending order of relevance. Most often people don't bother browsing many pages before selecting the link to visit. It can therefore be safely assumed that the ranking of a website for relevant search terms is an important determinant of its success. Search engines calculate ratings based on various factors. There are essentially two types of search results, paid and unpaid. Paid listings feature at the top and are displayed as sponsored listings. The ranking of an unpaid listing can be improved with the help of processes like search engine optimisation. (more...) People are happy to fork out hundreds or even thousands of pounds on their annual holiday or trip of a lifetime – and yet they happily miss out on buying travel insurance to save a few pounds which absolutely beggars belief - talk about a false economy!
Personally, I would not be able to enjoy a holiday if I did not have travel insurance and if you travel on a regular basis an annual policy can cost less than twenty or thirty pounds per trip – a small price to pay for real peace of mind. Unfortunately, the likelihood of something happening to you on holiday or business is higher than at home. You are eating foreign food that your stomach is not used to and driving on roads that are unfamiliar. You might also be doing things outside of your comfort zone that you have never done before such as water skiing or hang gliding. (more...) Love it or loathe it, car insurance is compulsory and something that we have to take out if we want to drive a car or other vehicle – and with good reason. The most basic form of car insurance, third party, means that if we cause injury or damage to a third party then their damages are covered.
However, there are other levels of car insurance available, which we have the option of choosing. They are more expensive, but if your car is a decent one, you might want to take a look at them and get a quote as they could protect you better in the long run. Third party, fire and theft also covers you if your car catches fire or if it is stolen – this is often little more expensive than the basic third party cover so is definitely worth considering. (more...) In today's world, it is important to have insurance, whether it be insurance for a house, travel insurance, or to insure a valuable laptop. With a bewildering array of options available from a myriad companies, it can sometimes seem like a hard task to find the right insurance for your needs. It need not be like this, though, and for information on how to get the best insurance quotes read more. Buying insurance used to be a matter of simply purchasing what was available through a bank that you may have been a customer of, or dialling the number of a car insurance company that was the most advertised on television. Things have changed, though, and now there are more options for the consumer.
The internet is a great tool for finding the best insurance deals. There are specific websites where you can compare prices and all insurance companies offer options where you can get an online quote without committing yourself to purchasing. (more...) If you are planning your dream trip to Australia, make sure that you have adequate insurance cover. It is tempting to skip it to buy a few extra beers or sun tan lotion, but if you go without it you will regret it when you need it most. You never know what will happen on your holiday, although we don't like to think about it. You could Buy Australian Dollars from the bank and the next thing you know it they have been stolen along with your credit card. What do you do then if you are not covered? Australia is a large country and what happens if you get sick, especially if you are outside of one of the major cities? Many of the small towns have little medical cover and it will end up costing you a small fortune if you have to get the Flying Doctor in, quite apart from the cost of your treatment. (more...) Insurance is an ingenious way to protect oneself against large expenses in case of emergency. It is like a bet placed with insurance companies, but one which buys you a cover in case of damage to your property or yourself. Different types of insurance policies offer protection of different amounts, which translates into different premiums. Travel insurance provides a cover while in travelling, while home insurance covers your home, and health insurance protects you from health related expenses. The basic concept behind all these types of insurance remains the same. Travel insurance is often ignored as an unimportant and unnecessary expense. The fact is that travel insurance is not only important but an absolute must while travelling. An emergency can befall us at any time, and it can be all the more difficult to handle when away from home. Long distance shipments like international shipping to America or anywhere abroad should also be insured in case of damage or loss of property. (more...) Buying a new home is a big step, especially for first time buyers. There seems to be an endless list of things to cover, such as conveyancing solicitors , mortgage companies and much more besides. One of the most important things to find though is good insurance. Although most mortgage companies offer a house insurance as part of the package, this may not necessarily offer the best value for money. Indeed, some include this as one of their profitable add-ons. You can look for your own home insurance through a couple of methods. Most insurance companies listed in the yellow pages have a free phone number to call, and this is a good first step. It shouldn't take more than a half hour to phone around a few companies to get some ideas of prices. (more...) Home Insurance may seem unnecessary when everything is going well and you cannot possibly imagine what could go wrong. Think again, because home insurance is designed to become useful in the event of a problematic situation. As we all know, emergencies and accidents don't usually come announced! It is easy to take for granted the very things that are most valuable to us. This includes our home as well as its contents. Some of our possessions may be valuable monetarily, but there are those that have so much sentimental value that they are invaluable!
Home contents insurance protects the insured contents of your home from loss and damage due to theft or accidents. You are free to include whatever possessions you wish to insure. At the time of insuring, it is important to make an inventory of all the items that need to be insured as well as their condition and value. This can make it easier if and when you need to make a claim. (more...) Many people do not think that they need Life Insurance, especially if they are young and single. In your twenties or thirties, it is hard to imagine anything happening to you, and so sometimes taking out a policy is just not thought about. Peoples' thoughts range from "well, if I am dead, I am dead" to "let someone else worry about it". However, this is quite a light hearted response to what could be potentially a serious situation.
Life insurance, covers things such as funeral expenses and paying off debts. Without insurance, if you die and leave debts behind, a member of your family may be responsible for them. Funeral services these days are not cheap either, and would it be really fair to pass on the costs of this to someone who would already be grieving for you? There are many types of life insurance available, and it will not make a huge difference to your wage packet each month by taking one out. Of course, it is advisable to get the best deal, and so you may wish to research online to see who offers. (more...) There are many types of insurances products covering a variety of things such as the home, your belongings, costs of health care and cars. With each type of insurance, there are different kinds of policies and products available. The basic premise of insurance however, remains the same.
A car insurance policy protects the owner from costs if the car undergoes damage. There are many types of policies that cover costs in case of different situations but the basic idea is that in order for this to happen, the owner must pay the insurance company a monthly or annually.
There are a number of insurance companies and if you're looking for Canadian car insurance , it is easy to find an insurance company. What isn't easy is comparing various policies and products to actually select the one that suits you best.

On the next visit, the tiny puppy is now a giant, destructive bulldog. Opening a door to a supposedly empty building only to find evidence of occupation happens in properties all the time. Being prepared to deal with difficult people is one thing. A true disaster is another matter. For a landlord insurance bestows some sense of security. Even when unoccupied, a building is subject to risk. Fire, broken pipes, an unnoticed leak can all amount to expensive damages. Smoke or water damage to even one part of a property can result in an entire building closed to all tenants for a time. Even a small fire can mean a huge loss of income until repairs are made. (more...) The National Health service, although derided by some, is actually admired around the world. Places like the Unites States of America, for example, do not have a health care service that is free for all like we have. Over the pond, a broken arm might cost a person several thousand dollars to be fixed, whilst in the UK, it is free. That said, sometimes, it makes sense to take out private medical insurance The reasons for this can vary from person to person, as everyone's situation is different. The advantages that private medical insurance gives though are the same for all. It means that should you become ill or need a series of tests, you will skip the waiting queues of the National Health Service, and be able to have these things done privately. This is obviously better than having to wait months at a time for things! (more...) If you travel for business, then you must ensure that your company takes out adequate and even generous business health insurance which covers you for anything that might go wrong. Most firms with travelling staff have a comprehensive policy which covers all staff when out of the office, but it pays to check exactly what is covered, especially if you are going to some of what is regarded as riskier countries. At the most extreme I have had colleagues who have had to be airlifted out of certain countries when troubles broke out there and have myself been caught up in some situations that I would rather not have been in – luckily I did not have to claim on insurance but you have to make sure that you are covered for anything. (more...) It is vital that you start to plan for your pension as far in advance as you can, especially in these uncertain times. It is likely that we all might have to retire later than we originally planned so the more proactive we are in sorting our pensions and annuities the better. If you have any excess funds left at the end of the month after you have paid for the mortgage and bills, try and save some, preferably in some sort of insurance or pension pot that is tax free.
Check with your bank or with your local advisor on the best and most efficient way to save your money – one that has a decent rate of return but little risk. (more...) One of the ironic things about insurance is that it is a vital part of our lives and whether it is health insurance, home insurance or pensions, our choice of product can have a profound impact on our lives. I say ironic because despite the importance of insurance, many of us simply do not have a clue when it comes to the terminology and the products themselves. If you are in the camp who do not understand annuity rates from interest rates or bonds from ISAs, you are certainly not alone as there are many people up and down the country who are in the same boat. The problem is that many people are too afraid of looking stupid to ask the questions and this means that all too often they get themselves into policies and products which are totally unsuitable for them. (more...) Whether you're looking for enhanced annuity or lower premiums, you'll find that selecting the right insurance broker for you is no easy task. There are so many service providers out there, and each one advertises itself as the best and the most affordable.
In order to make an intelligent decision, and to find the company that matches your own personal requirements, it is necessary to conduct your search according to certain guidelines. These will help to ensure that the insurance provider you end up with is the best possible option. To start with experts suggest you should ask friends and family for recommendations. The people close to you are likely to offer you sound advice. If this isn't a fruitful strategy, however, turn to the internet and conduct a simple search. (more...) Most of us planning for our retirement would agree that we are going to have to watch the pennies as our pensions are squeezed and our savings are likely to bring in a pitiful interest rate. It therefore pays to have a really good look at the value which our pensions and insurance policies will bring us when converted into annuities.
Some companies offer an enhanced annuity rate which can sometimes be paid out to people with health problems. Annuities are generally calculated on how long we are expected to live, so if there are factors which may affect our life span, then this could be taken into account.
Factors can include your lifestyle – if you eat, smoke or drink more than is good for you then the only benefit it could have is that it may qualify you for an enhanced annuity, although you will not be able to enjoy it for as long.

There is so much promotional content and persuasive advertising out there, and wading through it all can leave you dazed, confused, and thinking about opening an equity release plan and leaving insurance behind forever.
However, while finding the right brand of insurance for you is not easy, it is possible. As long as you follow a few simple steps you should find it relatively easy to secure appropriate cover. To start with, it is always a good idea to acquire a list of personal recommendations. Ask friends and family about their insurance providers. If their information is positive, then make a note of the company with whom they have a policy. At the end of this fact-finding process you should have a shortlist of good names and you can now go about narrowing this to just one suitable company. (more...) Whether you are looking for life insurance for diabetic pensioners or cover that protects your possessions against theft, fire or general damage, you will find that searching for the right policy for you is not an easy task. In order to make any kind of truly informed decision, you will need to read through the brochures and details of literally hundreds of different policies. You will also need to navigate the advertising and promotional content for each one as well. This strategy can only prove effective if you have an inordinate amount of time on your hands, and if you thoroughly understand the workings of an insurance policy. If neither of these apply to you, you might want consider taking an alternative approach. (more...) Car hire insurance is often included within the car hire agreement. Even if this is the case it is still a good idea to check what cover is offered and other issues such as the amount of the excess. If the car hire insurance is already factored into the car hire it may be possible to pay a higher premium in order to bring down the excess amount. If it is not included then you will need to search for the best insurance policy for your needs. Searching for cheap car hire insurance is easy with the many insurance comparison websites available. However the cheapest policy may not be the best as it can have extremely high excess amounts of limited coverage for certain aspects such as personal liability. Car hire insurance is important because of what can happen especially if you are driving in a country in which you are possibly not familiar with the road rules or the areas in which you are driving. Perhaps you are hiring a car in a country in which they drive on the opposite side of the road. In these circumstances there can be an increased likelihood of accident and therefore ensuring that you have the most comprehensive car hire insurance is a good idea. (more...)
